Welcome to Wychwood-on-Lea… a not-too-quaint village where frosty evenings, welcoming fires, and second chances will make this a Christmas you’ll never forget.
Anna Vere has escaped to the Cotswolds for Christmas to try to heal from her broken engagement and, far worse, her broken dreams. When her reserved room at a bed & breakfast is flooded, she takes up the offer of camping out in Willoughby Close, the converted stables of the nearby manor house… and is taken under the wing of sexy local carpenter Colin Heath.
What starts out as merely helping a neighbor in need turns into far more as Colin and Anna share a surprisingly intense and emotional connection, weaving their own Christmas magic as they spend the holiday together. But Anna has a secret she’s scared to reveal, something that could destroy the fragile bond they’ve just created, and Colin knows she’s only in England for a short time. Can these two sudden soul mates risk their hearts for a love that has yet to be tried and tested?
Get swept away by this poignant and heartwarming story, set in beautiful Wychwood-on-Lea, in the English Cotswolds. And look forward to four more books set in Willoughby Close, where everyday miracles and happily-ever-afters are guaranteed.
A WARM HEA
This is the first book that I have read by Kate and I will be adding her to my TBR author list now.
A Cotswold Christmas (Willoughby Close series Book 1) is about Anna an American who has come over to England to escape a family Christmas, were her parents would be fretting over her because she has just found out something terrible and then lost her fiance because he was not supportive. So Anna arrives hoping to stay in a quaint little Bed & Breakfast to find out on arrival that there has been a flood and she can not stay there.
The owner of the B&B phones her nephew and in strolls Anna's knight in shining armour Colin who takes her to a cottage that he is doing up. Colin does not think that Anna will stay as he thinks she is too posh to rough it as the cottages are not furnished yet but she surprises him and likes it there.
Anna gets found out to be staying in one of the cottages at Willoughby Close by the nephew of the owner and he demands that she leaves - so Anna's Knight in Shining Armour steps up once again and offers her to stay in his guest bedroom, even though he would like her in his room.
Anna is attracted to Colin but tries to stop her feelings and Colin thinks that Anna is too good for him so its great how they happen to fall into a relationship even though they think its just for the holidays.
This is a lovely feel good romance, the writing style is warm and comforting and you are willing these two great characters to get together even though there are hiccups along the way because of Colin's family.
I recommend this if you want a feel good HEA,
