Publisher Description
At the stroke of midnight on my twentieth birthday, he comes in darkness and in blood. Elio Titone, underboss of Toronto's most brutal Cosa Nostra famiglia.
Turns out my father is massively in debt to the Sicilian mafia. Elio has come for one thing and one thing only – to claim what he is owed.
And what he's owed is me.
My captor is dangerous and demanding. Tortured, possessive, and wealthy beyond belief. He traps me in his gilded, violent world and offers me no hope of escape. But the longer I spend with him, with his dark eyes and scarred hands, the less I want to claw my way out of his cage.
When new enemies threaten me, I see a side of Elio I didn't know existed – a ruthlessly protective side. He forces me to do the one thing that guarantees my safety, even if it means I'll forever be his prisoner.
I'll no longer be shackled by debt, but by marriage vows.
Because he'll make me his bride.
Ideal for fans of Neva Altaj, Gabrielle Sands, and Rina Kent, A Debt So Ruthless is a steamy age-gap mafia romance featuring a morally grey mafia boss hero who becomes obsessed with the innocent, inexperienced heroine. Themes include captivity and forced proximity, hate to love, older hero younger heroine age gap, enemies to lovers, forced marriage, and other dark romance tropes. It is part one of a complete duet.

Really well written characters with a lot of debt and the story combines all the best features of a mafia trope. Can’t wait for the next one
Amazing!
I am obsessed. I love a mafia book, I love even more when authors actually bring a mafia feel to the story and not just call it one. The storyline is great, it starts from the get go and really builds up throughout. It’s a slow burn but also full of tension, sexually and emotionally. The spice was amazing, I want an Elio in my life! He’s incredibly passionate, and for a big bad mafia boss he’s so devoting, caring, and loving. But this is all part of his development and I loved seeing him grow and change. Deirdre had my heart, she is so independent, faced a lot of trauma at a young age and never had a real outlet or support, meeting Elio she finally had that safe space and someone to properly care for her even though she absolutely did not want it to begin with.
One thing I love is the consistency, there are no quick sudden feelings, it is gradually built up with things being said and done here and there to realistically develop the relationship, and the way their relationship blooms is so lovely. They both have trauma, bits and pieces unfold throughout the book and they both work each other out as the story goes on.
My only comment would be I wish there was a little bit more mafia drama in the middle of the book considering the storyline is about the Irish mafia wanting to get this girl, however, as I got to the end it finally blew up and some drama is coming our way with, I assume, another book!
Honestly just amazing. The detail, the description, the character and relationship development was done seamlessly, it’s incredibly well written and I will definitely be reading more of Vero in the future!
