Author Peter Hanington worked on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme during the Iraqi and Afghanistan conflicts, which explains why every beat of A Dying Breed rings true. As the story unfolds of an assassination attempt that’s more than it appears, Hanington gives us a peek into the shadowy lives of foreign correspondents—as well as a crash course in Afghani politics and Britain's role in the region. He does a chilling job of portraying the damage sustained by journalists who've been swept into a web of suffering and deceit.
