A Mere Accident

"A Mere Accident" (1887) is George Moore's fourth novel. It is a "portrait of the artist as a young man" who struggles to reconcile his aspirations with harsh reality. While writing it, Moore also wrote nonfiction self-portraits entitled "Parnell and His Island" (1887) and "Confessions of a Young Man" (1888).
