Publisher Description
Sora's life was full of magic—until she discovered it was all a lie.
Heir to Mt. Fuji's spirit kingdom, Sora yearns to finally take on the sacred kami duties. But just as she confronts her parents to make a plea, a ghostly army invades the mountain. Barely escaping with her life, Sora follows her mother's last instructions to a heart-wrenching discovery: she is a human changeling, raised as a decoy while her parents' true daughter remained safe but unaware in modern-day Tokyo. Her powers were only borrowed, never her own. Now, with the world's natural cycles falling into chaos and the ghosts plotting an even more deadly assault, it falls on her to train the unprepared kami princess.
As Sora struggles with her emerging human weaknesses and the draw of an unanticipated ally with secrets of his own, she vows to keep fighting for her loved ones and the world they once protected. But for one mortal girl to make a difference in this desperate war between the spirits, she may have to give up the only home she's ever known.
With its breathtaking action, heart-wrenching conflict, and unexpected romance, this vivid standalone YA fantasy will delight fans of Julie Kagawa and Laini Taylor.

"Megan Crewe's A Mortal Song is engrossing from the first chapter. The world of the kami is beautifully fantastic and delicately drawn, and the switched-at-birth scenario made me instantly feel for both of these resilient, brave girls. A Mortal Song has lots of magic, lots of heart, and lots to love." -Kendare Blake, New York Times bestselling author of Three Dark Crowns

Great Story. Megan Crewe makes it exceptional
I don’t often give a book 5 star, but in this instance my heart is now singing with hope, when minutes ago My eyes were filled with tears. That is how much this excellent storyline affected me. Anyone can make up a story, but to have the skill, to translate that into a book, that can make you feel every emotion known, to keep your attention from slipping away, to make you really want to keep those pages turning must be a gifted author. The places the story travelled to felt so real, the descriptions made me feel safe, scared, worried but never once distracted from the storyline. To me there was a main character who even though was heartbroken, she was able to look deep into herself and have her perception and realisation change slowly but profoundly. Alongside her the other characters that stuck with her through the whole book was just as important to the main star, without them the storyline wouldn’t of worked. You will also find ghosts, demon, ogres, phrophecys, magic, which I will admit can be a common thing in fantasy / paranormal books. But the way they was used the book yourself. I think I feel so strongly about this review because I have just finished the book and started this review in my next breath, so all my emotions are still invested in the story. I think when you leave it a few days you lose that feeling and just no it was a good book.
It felt like Megan Crewe put her heart and soul In this book, so thank you for taking me away from reality and remembering what us humans have how belief in ourselves can change so much. If you like books that have battles, enduranceGreat Sto, love, betrayal, belief, loyalty, grief, nearly every magical creature, sages and heartbreak then I recommend this book. Give it ago, it has a great storyline, but the writing makes it exceptional
