Leanne's day at the beach with her mother and father is going fine, until she lays down to rest in the sun after building a sandcastle. Then (it is hard to believe) but a seagull steals her bellybutton.
Leanne, however, is not the sort of girl to let a squawking gull carry her navel out to sea without a fight, because every girl needs one. You need a bellybutton to put a navel ring in when you grow up. You need a bellybutton so you can show a fashionable bare midriff – without a bellybutton, how will you know where mid and the riff are? And most of all, you need a bellybutton to keep everything fastened up inside. If you have no bellybutton, your belly is going to fill with water when you go swimming and all your guts will be washed away.
So, Leanne gives chase, with the help of the beach lifeguards, board riders, and a surf rescue chopper.
