Essy Havers is good at finding things. Her company specialises in helping clients track down anything, from missing china pieces to rare vintage clothing. But now Essy has something more important to find: herself.
Essy has always been curious about her mother’s secret past and her Cornish roots. So, when the opportunity arises, she hops on a plane in Tennessee and ends up in Herring Bay in Cornwall; the village where her mother grew up.
But once there, she’s mystified by the reactions of the villagers when they realise who she is. Was Essy’s decision to visit Cornwall a mistake, or will it lead to a summer she’ll never forget?
Another great book from Angela Britnell
I love Angela’s other books which have featured a romance between someone from Cornwall & someone from Tennessee. This one is just as great and features Essy from Tennessee and Ruan from Herring Bay, Cornwall. Essy is visiting the area for a work project but also to investigate why her mother left Herring Bay and what caused the feud between her mother & Ruan’s mother. There are problems to overcome but the couple’s strong-willed characters help to stop their respective families from being torn apart.
A lovely story of second chances and it shows the importance of being true to yourself.
Village life in all its glory
This was so enjoyable and, very relatable, capturing village life in all its mirth and glory. I become absorbed in the pages as I was swept along with the characters, while their secrets were being unravelled. Village life is built on gossip, hurts, friends, help, love and a sense of community, all which this book encapsulates and that made it a real treat to read.
Great story of secrets and love set in Cornwall
Perfect summer read. Set in Cornwall this is a story of secrets and lies. When Essy decides to travel from her native Tennessee to visit the Cornish village where her mother grew up, why does she face hostility from everyone? Throw in the enigmatic local guy Ruan who has secrets of his own and you have a fabulous story. Highly recommend!
