A Vacation in Hell

Max Reede was warned about going to Hell Island, particularly about El Diablo Mountain. He said he always found these kinds of places were just stories to scare gullible people. It would be a cheap two weeks in a place that wasn't overrun with tourists. Voodoo and Hoodoo were silly superstitions. He doesn't have a superstitious bone in his body.
Then how do you explain this?
