Last year, Pierce died – just for a moment. And when she was in the space between life and death, she met John. Tall dark and terrifying, it's his job to usher souls from one realm to the next.
There's a fierce attraction between them, which Pierce carries back into our world. But she knows that if she allows herself to fall for John she will be doomed to a life of shadows and loneliness in the Underworld. When things get dangerous for her, her only hope is to do exactly what John says. Can she trust a guy who lives for the dead?
Inspired by Greek myth, Abandon is the first in a darkly romantic trilogy from Meg Cabot, creator of The Princess Diaries.
The wildly rich and beautiful Pierce Oliviera died and came back to life "I was flatline for over an hour." Ever since, her life has been exceedingly complicated. Two years after Pierce's near-death experience, the 17-year-old has been expelled from her posh Connecticut girls' school; her mother has moved them to the South Florida island of Isla Huesos; and Pierce must cope both with being the new girl and with a dark, handsome guy, who she met while she was dead and who won't leave her alone. While the fun premise and Pierce's irreverent voice are trademark Cabot, this novel has trouble getting off the ground. Cabot loosely hangs her story on the myth of Hades and Persephone, but the plot is hampered by confusing digressions and frequent jumps in time that make it difficult to pinpoint what's in the present and what's in the past. However, Cabot's avid fans including devotees of her earlier forays into paranormal romance, as in the Mediator series are likely to forgive the bumpy start to this planned trilogy. Ages 12 up.

I absolutely LOVE this book! The storyline intertwines with Greek Mythology and actually taught me about the subject. The storyline is well thought out, with just enough at the end to leave me thirsting for more. With the descriptions given, I feel like I nearly know some of the characters in the story and I almost feel as if I'm experiencing this story myself, instead of reading it off a page. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of dark or supernatural romances and will definitely be buying the rest of the series as soon as they're available!
Really good a bit shorter than most dark romance books, but that's why I liked it, good storyline and structure love Pierce and John relationship and can't wait for the sequel!
I love this book! Its very intresting! Cant wait for more! :)
