    The Real Deal

Having lived in Italy for a number of years, I've often despaired over so-called 'authentic' Italian cookbooks which are anything but. This book is the real deal. I first tried the 'pasta alla puttanesca' which came with the sample. With the step-by-step pictures even I had no trouble recreating one of my favourite dishes. As if the recipes and pictures were not enough, the histories of the food and the recipes, as well as many anecdotes from the author's family make the book a joy to read in and out of the kitchen. Next challenge: 'cheese and pepper spaghetti!'

A genius to allow me to cook like that!

I am not a chef, I just love food. I made recipe 8, Linguine in asparagus Carbonara last night. A beautiful dish that took me a while to cook as it was a bit more involved than I would normally try. I was amazed at how the cheese, egg, oil and pasta water 'combined' to produce such a rich, delicious sauce to coat the pasta with.
I felt like I was cooking in an authentic manner and the meal I produced was stunning. I don't normally manage this level of accomplishment! I found that the photos really helped me as I was preparing and then cooking the dish and I thoroughly enjoyed feeling as though I was doing things a bit differently. I am well pleased and will be trying out some more of these mouthwatering recipes in the near future! Well done to Aglio Vestito, and thank you to all his family and friends who have made this delightful book possible.
