Over the past half term, class 4A have been learning about deforestation and the way this is endangering the beautiful Orangutan. Inspired by the recent Greenpeace advert ‘there’s a Rang-tan in my bedroom,’ they have been motivated to help these poor animals.
This included writing and performing as an Orangutan seeing their home destroyed, writing to companies with links to dirty palm oil and this, a collaborative eBook created by the class to share everything we know about the beautiful Orangutan.
By downloading a copy of this ebook, you are also helping save the orangutans. Every penny made from this book will be donated to helping the efforts to save and protect these amazing creatures. So from all of the orangutans and pupils from 4A, we just want to say a massive THANK YOU!

Well done Year 4 on such an important book! I am a Year 6 teacher and I will be sharing your hard work with my class so we too can learn about the threat to orangutans and dirty palm oil. Thank you so much for helping me with my teaching :) Keep up the fantastic work!
Fantastic book Y4. You have worked tremendously hard.
Really interesting read
I learnt a lot about Orang-utans by reading this. I never realised before that they only live in trees. I know understand why destroying the forest is particularly devastating for them. I also hadn’t realised that only males had flanges nor that they were semi- solitary. Another fascinating fact was that they share 96% of the same DNA as humans. I really hope we manage to protect them.
Thank you for your book.
