Publisher Description
Fans of Christina Lauren, Colleen Hoover, and Jill Santopolo will love this breathtaking story about first love, second chances, and starting over from New York Times bestselling author Corinne Michaels.
Teagan Berkeley is trying her best. A single mom raising a precocious teen, she may have given up on her dreams, but she's accepted her life in her small beachside hometown. Now the one person who abandoned her when she needed him the most has returned, bringing back memories of what might have been.
Derek Hartz arrives in town with a teenage daughter-and he's full of guilt over his failed marriage and the way he ended his friendship with Teagan. He's determined to set things right with her, but first he needs to gain her trust, something he's not convinced he deserves.
As Teagan and Derek open up to each other-and confess their deepest secrets-it's impossible for them to deny what's always been between them. But just when their happily ever after is within reach, their complicated history surfaces again and threatens to keep them apart. Forever.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This indulgently emotional second-chance romance from Michaels (Come Back for Me) sees the sweet reunion of a pair of single parents. Childhood best friends Teagan Berkeley and Derek Hartz never disclosed their mutual crushes before Teagan's unplanned pregnancy with her college boyfriend, Derek's marriage, and his wife's discomfort with their friendship put them out of contact for over a decade. But when Derek and his daughter move back to Chincoteague Island, Va., following his wife's death, the pair reunite amid small-town gossip and the clashing personalities of their two teenage girls. Flashbacks to the mutual pining of their teen years and subsequent falling out slowly build the reader's understanding of the emotional baggage and miscommunication beneath the surface of their present-day interactions, making their eventual love confessions that much more satisfying, though the subsequent sex scenes are disappointingly bland. Some readers will find the relatively painless conflict resolution unrealistic, but most will enjoy the wish fulfillment of a story that sees long-broken hearts heal with barely a scar. This poignant story will gratify hopeless romantics.
Customer Reviews
Wow. Just WOW!
What a BEAUTIFUL story!
I just can’t with Corinne’s writing right now. So epically poignant and heart warming.
My heart actually aches now that I’ve turned the last page. You can’t help but be so engrossed in their journey back to one another and want to travel alongside them on the path they are forging together now. After all this time.
How their souls spoke to one another and the unwavering connection between them hadn’t diminished over the years was the stuff romance stories are made of. This is true love. This is what we all dream of. Aspire and hope for.
Like Derek and Teagan for one another, my love knows NO BOUNDS for this outstanding book from Corinne. 5 tell-me-something-real stars.
All The Feels !
Oh where to start? First let me say this, this book needs to come with a warning - tissues needed !! And anyone who is a fan of Corinne Michaels will know what I mean, maybe instead of rating by stars I need to rate by tears but let me tell you I love nothing more. The more they break me the more I feel the more I love them ! 😢😢😢😢😢
At 30% I was an absolute mess, I had to take a minute or two. I have this one friend who laughs and asks me why I put myself through these reads and it’s what Corinne’s stories always do to me, the reaction I always have and that’s why she’s one of my favourite authors!
An incredible true romance story of second chances/friends to lovers , utterly heartbreaking, so many tears shed I was blinking constantly to let them fall to clear the blur they caused.
But it’s also heart warming, All I Ask Is pure emotion and Teagan And Dereks story is real and it’s gunna hurt...
Derek has me feeling so much anger but yet I couldn’t help but love him because for all his wrongs it was also his rights and he put his own happiness last.
I loved Teagan, another amazing heroine created- despite her self doubt and what she’s been through - and her mother’s snipes - she is a true fighter and stronger than she realises, doesn’t give up and just wants a better life - and After the heartache these two have endured these two deserve happiness the most.
The build of the broken relationships not only by Tea and Derek but their children and even tea with her mother are all journeys.
Superb
This story is just superb. The depth of love and emotion these two characters have for each other is something we should all strive for. They have a soul deep connection and you will be routing for them from the very start. The daughters add an interesting dynamic and I warmed to one more than the other although as the story progresses I felt Everly had a lot of good in her.
It’s a very emotional story and I loved every page.
