Among the Gods of the Gods

Don chooses to go to prison in the slim hope that doing so will one day reunite him with Kim, the troubled woman he fell in love with when he was in hiding in Portland. To protect her, he forced himself to ignore her. He could tell her nothing of his past. He could never tell her that he killed a man in self-defense. He could never tell her why the FBI tried to frame him.  But why would such a beautiful woman want to wait for a loser like Don who she knows so little about? Don realizes it is far more likely that his going to prison will result in his own death at the hands of those who seek revenge. Besides, his cellmate, Max, tells him it is better to forget about women when you are in prison. Max, however, may not be sane. He rants about living in a computer simulation and having tried to commit what he calls 'quantum suicide'.

What Don doesn't know is that Kim has her own secrets. She has been stalked by her unstable ex-husband for years. How can she trust any man, even Don? Why should she waste her life waiting for a man, and why should she believe Don will return to her? Shouldn't she just be practical and find someone who will help her raise her son? There is one more thing Don doesn't know. He may be the one man who can change the history of the U.S.
