Publisher Description

ABSTRACT America is the "fattest" nation in the world, and obesity has become an epidemic. Being overweight increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes and stroke. In addition, obesity is costing U.S. businesses as much as $117 billion a year in health care costs, reduced productivity, and absenteeism. This paper defines obesity, discusses the causes, enumerates the costs to organizations, describes what companies can do to help their overweight employees, and describes the benefits organizations will receive.
