Customer Reviews
An embarrassment to the Asterix legacy. Such a shame.
Too many issues with the English translation to list.
It's like the translator hasn't read more than a couple of the previous books & doesn't really understand the 'rules' of character naming or the conventions established in the earlier, English versions of the books, let alone the intelligent, educated humour Anthea Bell & Derek Hockridge brought to the English versions they translated.
This is just lazy & insulting to both the Asterix series & to fans of the series. Is there no quality control any more?
I've been collecting these books for about 40 years, but now I'm seriously considering calling it a day. "...Missing Scroll" was genuinely good, but "...Chariot Race" was disappointing in a few areas & "...Chieftain's Daughter" was an uncomfortably embarrassing read & a real chore to finish.
