When outlaws raid the village near Lynwood Manor, Lady Joanna realizes her small garrison cannot rid her lands of the villains. Rejecting the advice that she marry again – a truly repugnant notion – to provide the manor with a proper lord, she decides to hire a mercenary with a bloodthirsty reputation who will restore the peace, then be on his way.  But when dangerous, rough mannered Logan Grimm hires into her service, she begins to wonder if she’s made a terrible mistake, for too soon she learns that within the warrior’s body beats a tender heart – and suffers a lonely soul that calls to her own.
