Beneath the Surface

Beneath The Ice is a short story that is set in winter in Finland. It is about two children, Lori and Mikael, who live in a town that's fear-stricken and controlled by old folklore and tales, and that has for centuries been terrified about a certain lake. The entire town keeps as far away from the lake as possible, and no-one dares even enter the forest surrounding it. But one night, the two children decide to ignore the warning signs and sneak out to the lake. What they find there is not what they expected, but what happens to them there changes their lives forever.

This is a dark tale that looks at life and friendship and what happens when one of these things is taken away.
