When his marriage collapsed and he lost touch with his two daughters, cultured and talented Bloo took to the pub, where he enjoyed the uncomplicated companionship of drinking mates. The Viet fighter pilot neglected his architectural business and fell into a loose and easy life. Along the way he fell in love but was too shy to confess it; instead he wrote to her from the other side of the world, in a minute hand on tissue-thin paper that was so difficult to read that she put it aside and his message was not received ... until the day of his funeral.
