Publisher Description

British Borneo is the “country”, or part of the island of Borneo, actually consisting of the four parts of the island of Borneo: Brunei, Labuan, Sarawak and Sabah. During the British colonial rule, these parts were known as: Kingdom of Sarawak, Crown Colony of Sarawak, Crown Colony of Labuan and North Borneo – now Sabah.

In 1846, Britain obtained the island of Labuan and then, they spread around to the northern part of Borneo.

During the Second World War, Japan was a powerful country, with even more powerful army. Being so strong, they conquered everything, and the British realized that they were unable to defend the colony from the Japanese Navy, so they surrendered. But, before they do that and before the landing of the Japanese Navy, the British destroyed the airfields, the oil fields there and in Brunei.

This book gives an overview of the history of Borneo, actually the British Borneo, as a colony, from its beginnings as colony, until the coming of the Japanese. It also provides a good insight of the Brunei, the life there, the culture, religion, customs, beliefs, tax law, possession of land, etc.

Using vivid description of the places, the author takes the readers to another place, in another time, giving them the chance to witness the history.
