Publisher Description

Call Me By Your Name is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blooms between seventeen-year-old Elio and his father's house guest Oliver during a restless summer on the Italian Riviera. Unrelenting currents of obsession and fear, fascination and desire threaten to overwhelm the lovers who at first feign indifference to the charge between them. What grows from the depths of their souls is a romance of scarcely six weeks' duration, and an experience that marks them for a lifetime. For what the two discover on the Riviera and during a sultry evening in Rome is the one thing they both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

Touching and emotional

I really enjoyed this book. It was warm, touching and emotional. The language within it was a joy to read, and overall it was a tale of a lovers scenario - but something that could happen to anyone in a serendipitous way. It just makes you realise what is life.

Beautifully written

Watched the film - was good but as always now prefer the book - all that is missing is Olivers side of the story - given that he says so little it would be great to now read that

More than just a love story, but a guide to dealing with mortality.

The philosophical charge of this book incites the true fear and desire which charges our spirits. To find love-no, absolute connection-in mortality with a being found in this short time we are given. This is not just a love story, it is everything that being alive is about. Ultimately, a coming of age tale that is utterly heart wrenching- it is about the inevitable nature of change and how it cultivates our irretrievable past, and thus, bringing us all to the penultimate question...and leaving us wondering with electric doubt,

Did I live the life I wanted?

Also, on a lighter not, I cried like a baby.
