Carrie on
As Stephen kings first published book it tells the story of a young girl who gets mercilessly bullied by almost everyone around her, whether that be at home or at school. Now as a Stephen king book you’re probably expecting the horror to come from monsters or killer clowns, but the monsters in this book are just people being people, showing you the affects of bullying on a young girl going through puberty. As someone who was bullied through school myself, I found myself cheering and rooting for Carrie to get that happy ever after ending, but alas this is a Stephen king novel and happy ever afters should rarely be what you expect by the end of one his books.
The First of Many Great stories
This Introduced King on to the world stage as a young horror writer to watch . brilliant story one off his best!! To think he threw the first chapter in the bin only to be saved by his wife . The book was Inspired by two girls he went to school with whose lives ended in tragedy and he’s feelings of guilt, and grief.
I’ve obviously seen the masterful de Palmer film loads of times and with the new Carrie series out I thought I would compare all 3 and read the original. Only 1000 + pages an east quick read with great characters and very modern themes (bulling , religious fundamentalism , mean girls peer pressure, not fitting in ) A truly heartbreaking relationship between Mother and daughter and in Carrie White , king has created a character to feel sorry for but also be afraid off!
Do yourself a favour a just read it
