A decade-old body exposed by a heat wave drives the explosive final chapter in the Enzo Files

THE GIRL IN THE LAKE

In 1989, a killer dumped the body of twenty-year-old Lucie Martin into a picturesque lake in the West of France. Fourteen years later, during a summer heatwave, a drought exposed her remains.

THE MAN ON THE CASE

No one was ever convicted of her murder. But now, forensic expert Enzo Macleod is reviewing this stone-cold case - the toughest of those he has been challenged to solve.

THE SKELETON IN THE CLOSET

Yet when Enzo finds a flaw in the original evidence surrounding Lucie's murder, he opens a Pandora's box that not only raises old ghosts but endangers his entire family.

Fantastic novel. A great climax to this series of novels. As the critics say "I could not put the novel down" I hope we have not seen the last of Enzo Macleod.

Old enmities

Where should I start....?

Love the premise of the book
Love the settings i.e. Toulouse,Cahors and Paris
Really enjoyed the is it? isn't it ?... relationship between Enzo and Charlotte that runs through the series
Enzo is in my view a well written,a deep layered character certainly more so than some of the female characters

What I dislike ....

When talking about Aquitaine the author states that it,along with other areas was owned by the English....!!

William the Conqueror invaded England in 1066 ,
He was from Normandy
His nobles took over the Saxon lands and Irish lands
Those nobles owned vast tracts of land in France

Therefore Aquitaine ,Gascony Normandy and the lands surrounding were actually owned by the Angevins ( a Norman bloodline)
And yet the Author lays the blame at the feet of the Englishand there greed
His antipathy to the English shines through every book in the series , in some subtle digs and some not so subtle. He allays his Scottish self on the French side ,because as we all know France is the Auld Enemy to England ..... as is Scotland...?
And they are both allies against us. ? Or so he would have us believe .
We have so much strife in this world, people's against people's so why in the world do we perpetuate an old enmity ...let it go..!!!
