Publisher Description
Bounty hunter Matt Voretti just had the best night of his life—with the woman he’s supposed to arrest…
Cleo McCall is out of time, out of funds, and desperate to get out of the country. The last person she expects to thwart her escape is her childhood crush, Matt, all grown up and hotter than ever—even as he slaps a pair of handcuffs on her. Cleo has learned the hard way never to let people see the real woman hiding behind her well-tailored suits, but if she doesn’t let Matt in she’s going to end up in prison. Or worse.
Matt Voretti might be the best bounty hunter in the business, but he’s tired of living in the shadows. All he has to do is track down one last bail jumper and he’ll have the money he needs to change his life for good. But one look into the familiar eyes of his skip is all it takes to know that his last job just got a whole lot more complicated. Cleo is the only woman who has ever seen beyond Matt’s irresponsible facade to the steady, principled man he truly is. He sees her just as clearly, and he knows there must be more to her story than it says on the arrest warrant. But can he get Cleo to trust him with the truth before it’s too late?
Each book in the Voretti Family contemporary romance series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order. Pick up Catching Cleo today to see Matt and Cleo get their second chance at love. Recommended for readers 18 and older.

4.5☆ - Romantic suspense mixed with a second chance despite being on opposite sides
Catching Cleo is my second read by Ava Blackstone and I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense with a great mix of romance, tension, and a bit of a second chance for a couple who were close friends when teenagers before circumstances pulled them apart. From start to finish I was completely drawn in to this book and eager to figure out where it was going to lead and there were some surprising events that I never would have predicted for when things hit their climax at the end. While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, although for those who have read the previous books I imagine it’s nice to see familiar faces pop up and catch up on their stories further; I have personally only read one other book in this series but could follow along no problem.
The moment Cleo and Matt, two really likeable characters, are re-introduced, tragedy tearing them apart years earlier, there is a clear chemistry between the pair, albeit a bit feisty with their strong opinions and the circumstances of being in opposing positions. Both characters were well developed and evolved over the course of the book and through the dual points of view we get a well rounded look and understanding of both Cleo and Matt.
Catching Cleo had a good writing style and flow while the plot was well thought out and steady from start to finish with a clear build up to an exciting climax. I personally found that the author managed to get a good natural balance with the romance and the suspense, especially with moving along the relationship between the couple in a way that fit with the storyline perfectly. As I’ve said, despite being part of a series, this can be read as a standalone with a HEA tying up all things for Cleo and Matt.
Overall, if you enjoy a good romantic suspense, definitely don’t hesitate to give this book a read! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and find out what will happen!
