Publisher Description

The Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) of The Appraisal Foundation has adopted changes to the Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria that will become effective January 1, 2008. These changes represent the minimum qualifications that all states must implement to license and certify real property appraisers. The most significant change affects appraiser education, and more specifically, the number of hours and specific topics appraisers must take to become licensed or certified. The Appraisal Institute applauds the AQB for raising the bar on minimum qualification criteria. Because the Appraisal Institute was very involved with commenting on exposure drafts and attending AQB meetings prior to the adoption of the new criteria, it was able to plan for the changes by creating an entirely new curriculum that exactly meets the new requirements. The Appraisal Institute is in a unique and advantageous position because it has the resources (dedicated members and staff) to completely overhaul the education curriculum to match the requirements.
