Club 5 Eight Zero 6

JD just sits there, staring at the night sky; a lonely, mixed up twenty-two-year-old, haunted by terrors from his past.

She is the absolute opposite. Lucy Hettler is a 'Straight A' student, the poster-girl of Mech-U whose picture adorns every locker door on campus. She is vivacious, sharp, intelligent, although maybe too trusting of her abilities? Lucy's studies are suffering from too much clubbing, her degree is teetering on the brink!

But for all their differences, they have one thing in common. They both have the Homid telepathy gene, and to complete this module of her degree, Lucy must use that gene to contact another across the mindPlain.

"What am I going to do, Cristi?" she cried, sobbing into a tissue. "He just ignores me. I have the telepathy gene, he does too. Linking across the mindPlain should be easy. But he just sits there, staring into the night sky, oblivious to all about him!"

So, what happened to JD? What is he staring at, what is out there?

And why did the Prof. on Lucy's course include the now closed 'Club 5 Eight Zero 6', in the study list?
