Publisher Description

The acclaimed international bestseller now a MAJOR MOTION PICTURE starring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Gemma Chan!

When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home and quality time with the man she hopes to marry. But Nick has failed to give his girlfriend a few key details. One, that his childhood home looks like a palace; two, that he grew up riding in more private planes than cars; and three, that he just happens to be the country's most eligible bachelor.

On Nick's arm, Rachel may as well have a target on her back the second she steps off the plane, and soon, her relaxed vacation turns into an obstacle course of old money, new money, nosy relatives, and scheming social climbers.

Absolutely fantastic

It’s one of those books that you just want to keep reading and reading. It’s so well written and the amount of detail put in, and how realistic the settings/dresses/atmosphere is portrayed is wonderful. I adore the characters too, the film was amazing too but the book just had so so much more 😍❤️ Can’t wait to read the next!

well damn, this is the first book I’ve read in a Long time. Awkwafina if u see this, ily!
As a Singaporean living in the Western world I can completely fall in love with this book. I heard about a movie in the works since early 2018 when I was googling Ken Jeong and this movie came up. When I heard it was about Singapore and it was going to be a Hollywood film I had to find out more. The movie was great BUT THE BOOK WAS EVEN BETTER... I don’t like reading but seeing singapore slang that I miss so much here really is the icing on TOP of the cake for me, in this book. Well done, Mr Kwan!

Ugh...boring

Think I rather see the leaves fall from the trees for an hour than read any more of this book. Poor!
