Publisher Description

On Petition to Transfer SHEPARD, Chief Justice. Indiana's Rules on Post-Conviction Remedies provide an avenue by which convicts may seek permission for belated consideration of appeals addressing their convictions. They do not provide an avenue for appeals of other post-judgment petitions. Here, the prisoner has attempted to initiate an untimely appeal from the denial of a post-conviction petition. The trial court and the Court of Appeals correctly denied permission.
