Cinderella as never imagined
Since childhood I have been a fan of fairy tales and treasure my copy of Grimm’ Fairy Tales, with illustrations by Arthur Rackham, and The Stories of Hans Christian Anderson, with illustrations by Edmund Dulac. Now Demelza Carlton has danced into my life with her enchanting reworking of those favoured tales. Dance is the tale of Cinderella as one never imagined; Demelza Carlton’s words wove a magical thread as I eagerly turned the pages and fell into a medieval China of bound feet and the art of the Dance of Combat. Beautifully and imaginatively written I look forward to reading more by this author.
