Timeless and wonderful
This trilogy is a triumph and arguably the best series of stories to come from the Magician series.
The attention to detail, the new perspectives, the colours, the sheer vibrancies and subtleties mean that, again and again, I will re-read this trilogy all my life.
A true literary treasure.
Outstanding
This new series of books, that runs concurrent with the original Riftwar saga, gives the reader an understanding of what is happening on the other side of the rift.
This book is the start of the rise of a young girl who becomes the head of a family after the deaths of her parents and sibling. Loosely based on the Bushido system of honour found in ancient Japan, the book is captivating from the onset.
Feist is a creative author and although this is a complete withdrawal from his original series, it is just as magical. It's another heroic tale of a young woman facing the trials and tribulations of life but in a world of men and an ancient social system. From the outset Feist throws you into the story and you become instantly hooked. Although a bit more linear than the Magician series, it is just as well written and exciting.
I would recommend all of Feist's books and this series is no exception. A great story, well written.
