I am afarid that I am infected with the same romanticism for the sea as Rose suffers from. An excellent read although she did not entirely tells us of how she spent everyday, just the interesting bits and a very humane look at her Capatin Glenn and his team. I would have enjoyed learning more of their daily routines and responsibilities but the depth of her reseach into pirating, wartime traffic, and adventures, sacrifice, and lack of appreciation, as well as the movement of goods by commercail ships was indeed profound and informative. The difference in her life within the time spent upon a Man of War was fascinating, but always her erspect for the Merchant Navy was profound and deeply human.
