Alek is the antihero of all antiheroes!!
The Devil’s Crown part 2 by Monica James.
How dark is too dark?— I found myself tethering on the edge of my limits with this read... admittedly, not entirely in a bad way.
It should be noted that the dark theme warning should be heeded, however for lovers of all things dark this duet is perfection.
Thrilling, intense, suspenseful, and gut-wrenching best describes the conclusion to Alek’s story in The Devil’s Crown part 2. I was sucked into a vortex of whirling emotions, insanity, and mind-blowing darkness that Monica James brings to the table so well time and time again.
Aleksei Popov is the antihero of all antiheroes and he finds the perfect partner in Ella. She’s no damsel in distress, she is pure fire and every inch the queen to rule beside Alek and together they are undeniably formidable!
For the first half of the book I felt like they were on the fringes of a great Shakespearean style tragedy but together they would set a new standard for the ultimate power couple. It was such a welcome to see Saint and Willow again. I swooned over Alek & Saint’s bromance. Seriously, my heart freakin died and resurrected! As much as I really loved the softer more vulnerable side to Alek in this book, it’s when he takes control that I truly go on my knees for him.
I’ve been going through a low patch with my tolerance for dark reads lately... yet, I was still able to enjoy this book because it is undeniable that Monica James can tell a story that is so compelling she has the ability to draw me in and hold me hostage with the potent, raw brutality in her words. She shattered every part of my mind, body, and soul... she took me apart so completely yet somehow, she put me back together again, piece by piece... After, seeing the darkest side of Alek in Saint & Willow’s book (𝐴𝑙𝑙 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑃𝑟𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑦 𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦)- he has more than proved he is redeemable and worthy of absolution.
