About the author

Not my typical read…but soooo good!
This book completely surprised me, I bought it years ago after reading the House of Night Series by PC and Kristin Cast. I bought it due to how much I loved the House of Night series, and thought it would be similar supernatural stuff. Unfortunately I lost touch with reading for a while due to life getting in the way. This is the first book I’ve picked up in years, and I was surprised to realise it was a lot different to the House of Night series. So the main character gets pulled into a magical world where creatures from myth exist, she gets thrown straight into a marriage with a centaur…who she’s attracted to. Then she is linked to a Goddess who shows her the bad things that are happening and who talks to her to give her encouragement. I guess if I was looking for vampiric creatures, I got that in the form of Fomorians. I was entranced by the book, even if it isn’t my typical read. The author’s descriptions of people were hilarious…even the British one early in the book (I promise that doesn’t describe all of us brits). Then the description of Shannon’s friend Michelle (Not a slut, but men are her hobby). Things like this had me laughing so hard, I was reading on my lunch breaks at work, so naturally shared the funny parts with my colleagues. It did spark a lot of debate and hilarious conversation! How Shannon slowly adapted to her new world, was amazing…although I’m not entirely sure how someone didn’t figure out the switch especially with the difference in the way she spoke and the colloquialisms she used. Although, I guess some of that was down to the help of Alana. Shannon’s confusion over the centaur/horse/guy thing was apparent throughout the book, and was brought up many times as she struggled with that transition. Even though this was confusing, her love for Clanfintan was clear pretty quickly. I was upset and my heart and mind were going crazy when the Fomorians were winning the battle, especially so close to the end of the book. I’m so happy the last few chapters cleared that up! And as if Rhiannon was trying to come back, I guess the grass wasn’t greener on the other side! I ordered the next two books the day I finished this one, can’t wait to get into it!
