An enjoyable read
This story is a really enjoyable spin off from the Apprentice of Anubis Series. Whilst it is helpful to have read that series as it means some of the characters and situations are familiar the story is stand-alone and easy to engage with.
Seeing the Temple setting from another viewpoint is interesting and there are some wonderfully vivid descriptions of the ancient traditions and modern world working in tandem.
The characters are great. I like that the reader sees some familiar faces whilst meeting new characters at the same time.
I recommend reading both the series and the stand-alone stories as they really do transport you into another world, that is both familiar and vastly different.
