Publisher Description
1. INTRODUCTION The occurrence of osteoporosis with bone-thinning and brittle bones is high in elderly people [1-3]. The complications of fractures limit daily activities (ADL) and reduce the quality of life (QOL) of the affected individuals [4-6]. Even when the level of bone loss is below normal (osteopenia), the risk of fractures is high [5]. Females in particular are prone to have osteoporosis and should pay particular attention to the increased risk of a nutritionally deficient diet [6,7].
