Publisher Description

“Romance is the glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a golden haze...”

Elinor Glyn began her literary career as a British fashion writer in 1898, and achieved notoriety in 1907 with Three Weeks - a steamy romance novel that was shocking for its time because it depicted an adulterous relationship between a young man and an older woman.

Three Weeks became an international bestseller in 1908, selling over five million copies worldwide.

The novel was banned in Canada and condemned by religious leaders in the United States.

The novel’s success pushed Glyn into the international spotlight, and she became, in the words of one modern writer, “the Martha Stewart of all things sex.”

ELINOR GLYN (1864 – 1943) was a British novelist and screenwriter who specialized in romantic fiction that was considered scandalous for its time. Although her works are now tame by modern standards, she had tremendous influence on early 20th-century popular culture and on the careers of important Hollywood stars such as Rudolph Valentino and Gloria Swanson.
