For five months they were marched and starved with the harsh central European winter as the backdrop to this epic tale. This book gives a dramatic insight to the tyranny and horror that was Nazi Germany, where a single Red Cross parcel was worth killing for and where men fought a continual struggle to stave off death from a plethora of causes.

Inspirational
A very well written account of a courageous struggle for survival. It's a shame that a proofreader wasn't employed - there are numerous typos - but that's a trivial concern considering the price. Give it a read.
Great Read!
An excellent first hand account of the author's time as a POW and the sabotage of the sugar factory he and fellow POW's were forced to work in. The terrible conditions that these men had to endure on the Long March is described in vivid and often gory detail. As good an account as any that I have read on the Long March.
