Atkins?

As I was reading the sample I couldn't help thinking that this sounds remarkably like the Atkins diet (although with a little bit of dietary history thrown in), don't get me wrong though because people are starting to wake up to the wrong advice that doctors and nutritionists have been giving us for the past 40 years, so it can't hurt to have another book on carb restricted diets.

Excellent

Please remember that this is not a dieting book but a book, which encourages a lifestyle change. Using it as a temporary measure to lose weight and you will most likely gain it all again when you stop.

Read the bullet points at the end of each chapter, and read the full text if you need ‘more meat on the bone’.

This is going more towards the Paleo diet, where carbohydrates are OK as long as you avoid the starchy foods such as grains and potatoes, and the high sugar foods.

Enlightening

I think this is an important book and I have changed my diet as a result. In a week I've lost four pounds by cutting right back on carbs, sugar and processed rubbish. I thought I had zero willpower but I've surprised myself by finding this so easy - despite being a (former) toast and biscuit addict. Many thanks to Dr Briffa for such a well written, clear and compelling book.
