Essential Cattitude
Publisher Description
For cats, problems often arise because we, as owners, do not understand what their natural drives and reactions are, what kind of physical and social environment they prefer, or how simple things like how we feed them or provide litter trays can make a big difference to their lives. It is not complex psychology and the cat is a successful pet because it is highly adaptable, but in living closely with people, that adaptability can sometimes be challenged to the full and occasionally the cat may exhibit behaviours which are considered undesirable.
Understanding just what these circumstances are and what a cat can and cannot cope with would help enormously in expectations of our relationship with our cats, and that is what this book addresses. The sections in this book are written with this in mind – if you understand where the cat is coming from and how it is likely to react and you have a much better idea of how to make it relaxed and less likely to resort to ‘problem’ behaviours.
A panel of expert cat behaviourists contributed to the content of this book, and it is illustrated in part with pictures from well-known cat lovers and also frommembers of the Society of Feline Artists.
This book has been created and developed by International Cat Care - www.icatcare.org - a charity that has been working worldwide to improve the health and welfare of cats since 1958.
