Guard Your Heart - Trust No One
Until his last mission, British military medic Luke McLaren kept his oath, 'Do No Harm', but when he fails to save his best friend, Mike, his life implodes. Raw from her loss, midwife Kate Gibson, Mike's sister, doesn't believe in happy endings.
Consumed with guilt Luke visits Kate to offer his apologies. With both of them reeling with grief, one night of make-me-forget sex, doesn't seem like a bad idea. Life goes on. After leaving the military, Luke joins Sentinel Security, and Kate returns to her work in Africa.
A year later, when Kate asks for Luke's help to expose a bomb threat, he agrees. He has no choice, thanks to his deathbed promise to Mike to protect her. With their hotter than hell connection reignited, Luke and Kate must face their personal demons as well as the enemy if they are to survive and claim a future together.

Fantastic book
This is the first book I have read by this author, and it certainly won’t be the last. She has written a story which is fast paced, flows beautifully, gains your complete interest and keeps you hooked until the very end, I really enjoyed it. Luke was a trauma surgeon before he joined the SAS, and was in Burkina Faso on his last of three deployments with them. A team is called to an IED explosion, and to his horror he finds his best friend Mike has been catastrophically injured. Mike makes Luke promise to look after his sister, and later in the book the author very sensitively describes the return of the fallen British soldier to the U.K., with the associated repatriation service. Kate, Mike’s sister, is a midwife, and the relationship between Luke and her is hot and steamy but always with something hidden and not talked about . As Kate continues to work overseas will Luke be able to keep his promise to his fallen friend? I can thoroughly recommend this book, and look forward to reading more of these books.
