Reviews

‘Here scams and murders are not the desperate acts of Baltimore’s downtrodden but, rather, the calculated moves of soccer moms, real-estate-savvy suburbanites, and nihilistic teens and college students. In an intoxicating mix of Poe-like horror and the pleasingly bitter irony of Dorothy Parker, Lippman tells deliciously vicious, topsy-turvy tales of women taking revenge for the endless insults and injuries of sexist, selfish men, and, for good measure, of guys who rid themselves of manipulative women. Lippman is a class act and a potent storyteller in these elegant, furious, and blues-blasting dispatches from the endless war between the sexes.’ –Donna Seaman, Booklist

‘Laura’s stories stand apart from her novels in revelatory and satisfying ways. Plus, they’re beautifully written and contain the kind of offbeat observations and insights that someday, no doubt, will come to be known as “Lippman moments.’ George Pelecanos

PRAISE FOR THE INNOCENTS:
‘The Innocents is compelling, suspenseful – everything a great thriller should be – but it is SO much more than that. That rarest of books - a nuanced and beautifully literate page-turner - this confirms what many of us have known for some time. Laura Lippman is not just the author of top-notch psychological thrillers, she is one of the finest writers in America. Simple as that.’ Mark Billingham

‘A story that ripples with menace, sorrow and the dark churn of adolescence—the prices families pay for secrets, the things we can’t look at in ourselves.’ Megan Abbott, bestselling author of The End of Everything
