From Bangladesh to Phd: Wild Politics (Social Justice‪)‬

In this essay I show how I came to develop the concept of wild politics and how it applies to the primary production sector. The thesis sets out to explore the driving force of global western culture. I argue that globalisation depends on an ideology which takes as its inspiration accumulation: the accumulation of wealth, of personal glory or of individualistic freedoms. I propose that, in order to achieve social justice, global western culture needs to shift its focus from the idea of profit, and move instead to an alternative social order in which the inspiration is biodiversity, cultural and social diversity, and common or collective good. The research for my PhD, 'Wild Politics: Feminism, Globalisation and Biodiversity', was inspired by a visit to Bangladesh in 1993.
