FX: Realism and Perception

What is FX? How is it related to realism and our perception? These are the questions I will be asking in this essay.

By looking at realism and perception, I am hoping to discover how we, as media professionals, are able to use an understanding of these two terms to inform our creative pieces. By developing a working knowledge of realism and perception we are able to create believability in our creative pieces. This believability makes our FX, and our pieces as a  whole, more effective at what they are trying to achieve.
