When author Elizabeth "Lizzy" Hornwhistle chooses a simple life in South Dakota, away from sudden fame and the paparazzi, she faces a long and frigid winter but none of the peace and quiet she'd imagined.

The citizens of her new home, Harperstown, don't let the weather get in their way, and soon Lizzy is busy with an obnoxious next-door neighbor, a mystery maze to plan, two pet houseguests—and a poisoner on the loose. 

Luckily, Lizzy's miniature guard dach Mavis and her best friend Holly have her back as she tries to unravel clues to the killer's identity before they can strike again.
