Publisher Description

With the Locust Horde apparently destroyed, Jacinto's survivors have begun to rebuild human society on their island stronghold. Raiding pirate gangs take a toll - but it's nothing that Marcus Fenix and the Gears can't handle. Then the terrifying life-forms they thought they'd left behind - the Lambent, creatures even the Locust feared - begin to advance across the planet.

Gears and gangs must fight side by side to stop their deadliest enemy yet, falling back on the savage tactics of another bloody siege: Anvil Gate.

Great! Perfect time to read it.

Anvil Gate fills the gap between the Gears of War 2 and 3 console games perfectly - so now is the time to read it.

It focuses primarily on the history and present battles (inner and outer) of the tough-as-nails, Colonel Victor Hoffman. We also discover a little more about Adam Fenix (and hence, Marcus) one or two details about Anya Stroud and Sam Byrne through flashbacks into Hoffman's and the elder Fenix's past.

It's very easy to read, filled with great action, and a good balance of the external and internal conflicts the characters must endure.

I got the ebook, and now I wish the earlier books were also available in ebook form.

If you're a Gears fan, get it, but if you're new to the series and enjoy Sci-fi then start from the earlier books. Entertaining and with some depth to it as well.
