Publisher Description
She’s got enemies. He’s got scars. Together, they’ll face a war neither of them expected.
Gerard Guidry fought hard for his country — and lost a piece of himself in the process. Medically discharged and recruited into the Bayou Brotherhood Protectors, he’s ready for his first major solo assignment: guarding a stubborn farm girl with a target on her back.
Widowed and alone, Bernie Bellamy’s life depends on the land — and the animals she calls family. When her friend Gertrude is murdered and the threats close in, she turns to the Brotherhood for protection.
A fish out of water, Gerard doesn’t know anything about farms or feelings — but as danger circles and sparks fly, he’ll have to decide if love is a risk worth taking... or a weakness that could get them both killed.
In the bayou, love can be just as dangerous as the enemies chasing you.

A book to keep you reading!
Gerard was settled with the Bayou brotherhood protectors but like the rest itching to get to work properly. So when he’s sent to investigate the death of a goose on a small holding he really doesn’t know what to expect certainly not Bernie.
Bernie was struggling to survive working the land since her husband died and so she asked the Brotherhood for help and in walked Gerard.
This is a story which captures the support of neighbours and team mates in times of trouble and trouble certainly arrived.
I loved the errant pigs and the melon patch. Enjoy!
