Publisher Description
In god is Not Great Hitchens turned his formidable eloquence and rhetorical energy to the most controversial issue in the world: God and religion. The result is a devastating critique of religious faith
god Is Not Great is the ultimate case against religion. In a series of acute readings of the major religious texts, Christopher Hitchens demonstrates the ways in which religion is man-made, dangerously sexually repressive and distorts the very origins of the cosmos. Above all, Hitchens argues that the concept of an omniscient God has profoundly damaged humanity, and proposes that the world might be a great deal better off without 'him'.

A Brandy & Cigar
It feels at times I was sitting in a lounge enjoying a Brandy, while the great mind of Hitchens just flows with tremendous insight and huge amounts of knowledge. He hammers home the point that ALL religions are man made and how science started to slowly chip away at the once impenetrable edifice of religious dogma, before the internet put the power to smash the last stones of dogma to dust, into the hands of anyone with a laptop, a tablet or a mobile phone. All the religious have left is their faith which binds them in subjugation and misery.
Phenomenal
I stumbled upon this book in a store while visiting the USA. I ended up buying it here on Apple Books and I’m so glad that I did. I grew up Christian and soon became an atheist after discovering Dawkins’ The Good Delusion and taking the time to read it. I had always struggled with the lack of evidence supporting the existence of God, along with the amount of harsh misogyny and homophobia present in religious books. God is Not Great really helps to explore different ideas. It’s helped me to articulate to my strict religious friends why I’m an atheist. The author is clearly very intelligent and I’m eager to read more of his books.
