Grimm Academy Volume 3

Great Box Set

There’s more magic afoot at Grimm Academy than anything else and the three books contained within this volume are great examples of the reworked fairytales but I'm only going to give a detailed review of my personal favourite of the three.

The stories are:-
Mirrors and Magic: a retelling of Snow White
Lamps and Lies: a retelling of Aladdin
Feathers Of Fate: a retelling of The Goose Girl

‘Lamps and Lies’ - This is a different retelling of Aladin and I think it was better than the original! I know I preferred the genie in this one he was much nicer. Alyeesah aka Aly is a hungry, street-smart kid who helped an older lady carrying too many bags she offered to help instead of stealing from her as she'd normally try to do. Afterwards, she found a gold ring which when she tried to clean it made a genie appear, and you guessed it she has three wishes. When she makes her first wish to become a Princess instead of just making it happen her genie teaches Aly all she will need to know to help her achieve her dreams.

There is lots more to this story but you will need to read this one for yourself to find out what happens to Aly and her genie.

The other stories are equally enjoyable.
