PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
The effects of emotional child abuse are at the heart of this flimsy second-chances love story, the fifth installment in Morgan's From Manhattan with Love contemporary series (after New York, Actually). When Felicity "Fliss" Knight, a rambunctious and emotionally closed-off professional dogwalker, gets a call that her grandmother is in the hospital, she hightails it to the Hamptons to take care of her. Fliss hopes to avoid an awkward encounter with her ex-husband, Seth Carlyle (whom she left after three months of marriage and hasn't seen in 10 years), but winds up practically living next door to him. Seth, a veterinarian, knows Fliss is closed off, but he's determined to finally break down her barriers and get answers he feels are long over-due. Fliss hides her emotions as a defense mechanism stemming from her father's emotional abuse of her as a child, but she's still undeniably attracted to the handsome, patient vet, and her feelings prove difficult to contain. Although initially understandable, readers will tire of Fliss's stoicism; it's not clear what Seth saw in her the first time or why he's interested in a do-over.

An excellent 2nd book this series
Another great read by Sarah Morgan. I can honestly say I loved this book, I'd been looking forward to finding out more about the characters, Fliss and Harriet, being a twin myself I'm fascinated how others see us. I connected very strongly to Fliss, whereas I've always seen my twin as more Harriet, even with the twist in personality when needed. The slow burn between the two main characters was refreshing and the I'm put of their gran was inspired at times and hilarious at others. For me the flow and narrative of the story was just fine, but then I read for enjoyment and to give an honest review. I was gifted a copy of Holidays in the Hamptons and intend to purchase the audio edition if/when available.
Good read.
A good read although a little repetitive in places. However what’s really annoying is who proof reads these books? How did Matilda become Melissa on a couple of pages? Just a small gripe but surely the author should know the name of the characters and stick with them.
Witty and adorable!
To my shame this is the first Sarah Morgan novel I have read - but it most certainly won't be the last.
We've all done things when we're young and daft but few of us have got married in haste and 'repented at leisure' as Fliss and Seth did. Toss into the mix two entirely different family backgrounds - one open and loving partner and one closed-up and wary - and things don't work out quite as they thought it would. Now fast forward ten years and meet again .. and you get this compelling and satisfying read. Lots of side interests in this one too! A twin sister, elderly grandmother, interfering sibling, pregnant friend - not to mention the Poker Princesses! I loved the scene with Fliss and writer Matilda where the latter was explaining how she builds characters for her books - Sarah, your secrets are out!
This is a really warm read featuring true-to-life characters and situations in the most wonderful settings but in no way a 'shallow' read - this book has real depth to it. I actually went to sleep leaving the last few pages to read in the morning as I could hardly bear to finish it and leave the Hamptons behind!
I have no hesitation in recommending this novel to readers looking for a warm, fun, compassionate, witty and adorable read with charasmatic characters and fabulous writing. An ideal summer novel.
I received an arc via NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
