The first book in the Kate Redman mystery series is a gritty crime story with a burning emotional core. Kate is just starting out as a detective sergeant in Britain’s West Country. Her first investigation involves a murdered nanny and a kidnapped infant—a case that draws poignant parallels with her own past. Hushabye draws us into the heroine’s mounting psychological pressure and the bittersweet memories the case keeps dredging up. Self-published author Celina Grace is a cinematic writer with a flair for perfectly paced dialogue and vivid descriptions. Somber yet thrilling, Grace’s book is a blend of police procedural and white-knuckle suspense. It reminded us of the British TV show Midsomer Murders, but with a complex female detective at its heart.

I love this series - well done to Celina Grace for developing such a lovely set of characters and easy-to-read stories with decent dose of drama and twists!
