A thoroughly enjoyable read. Love the family intrigue and social history. A gentle introduction into life of the aristocracy in a village setting and the hidden secrets of a family. Look for to following Lady Helena as she grows into her new life as a widow and landowner with all the responsibilities plus the blossoming relationship between the French doctor.
Fascinating
An easy read with depth. The story and characters are complex yet realistic. The author depicts a historic world that feels like it could have happened. Although there are dark events in the book it is not depressing or heavy going. I will be buying the next one!
